By accessing or using remodelfinder.com (the "Site"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Use. If you do not agree, please do not use the Site.

2. Description of Service

RemodelFinder provides algorithmically generated cost estimates for home remodeling projects across the United States. Estimates are calculated using a combination of national benchmark data, ZIP-code-level cost indices, regional labor and material cost data, seasonal demand adjustments, and publicly available permit activity. They are intended as a general planning reference only and should not be treated as a formal bid, quote, or contract.

The Site also provides ROI scores, permit activity data, seasonal demand data, and educational content about home improvement projects. All of this is informational and not a substitute for professional advice.

3. No Contractor Relationship

Use of this Site does not create a contractor-client relationship between you and RemodelFinder, or between you and any contractor. Any work you commission from a contractor is solely between you and that contractor. We do not endorse, vet, or guarantee the quality or licensing of any contractor.

4. Not Financial or Investment Advice

ROI scores, equity gain estimates, and resale value projections on this Site are informational tools based on regional aggregate data from the Remodeling Magazine Cost vs. Value report and US Census regional classifications. They reflect average regional outcomes and are not a prediction of what any specific property will gain in value. Nothing on this Site constitutes financial, investment, or real estate advice. You should consult a licensed real estate professional or financial advisor before making decisions based on anticipated resale value.

5. Accuracy of Estimates

Cost estimates are derived from the following data sources:

  • National benchmarks: Remodeling Magazine Cost vs. Value report (annual).
  • Local cost indices: ZIP-level multipliers built from Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) Occupational Employment and Wage Statistics (OEWS) for construction labor, and Zillow Home Value Index (ZHVI) data for local market conditions.
  • Seasonal adjustments: Model-based demand indices by project type and climate zone. These represent typical seasonal patterns, not live contractor pricing.
  • Permit activity: Trailing 12-month permit counts sourced from public open-data portals at the county level. Coverage varies by jurisdiction. Some counties do not report permit data publicly, and those areas will not display permit activity data.
  • ZIP demographics and risk data: US Census Bureau American Community Survey, FEMA National Flood Hazard Layer, NOAA hail event records, and similar public datasets.

Actual project costs depend on specific scope, materials selected, site conditions, contractor availability, and many other factors. We make no warranties, express or implied, regarding the accuracy, completeness, or fitness for a particular purpose of any estimate.

6. Location Detection

When you visit certain pages on the Site, we may automatically infer your approximate location from your IP address using Cloudflare's network infrastructure, which provides a best-effort postal code associated with your connection. This is used solely to show you a cost comparison between your local market and the market you are viewing. No precise location data is stored by RemodelFinder. 7. Intellectual Property

All content on this Site (including text, graphics, logos, data compilations, and software) is owned by or licensed to RemodelFinder and protected by applicable copyright and trademark laws. You may not reproduce, distribute, or create derivative works without our prior written consent.

8. Permitted Use

You may use the Site for personal, non-commercial purposes only. You agree not to:

  • Scrape, crawl, or systematically extract data from the Site
  • Use automated tools to access the Site in bulk
  • Use the Site to send unsolicited communications
  • Attempt to gain unauthorized access to any part of the Site or its data infrastructure
  • Reproduce or redistribute cost estimates, permit data, or ROI scores for commercial purposes without written permission
  • Use the Site in any way that violates applicable law

9. Third-Party Services

The Site relies on third-party services to operate, including:

  • Cloudflare: for hosting, CDN delivery, and network-level request handling including IP-based location inference.
  • Form processing: contact form submissions are handled by a third-party service provider. Messages you send are transmitted to and stored by that provider on our behalf.

We are not responsible for the practices, availability, or accuracy of third-party services. Their terms of service and privacy policies govern how they handle your data.

10. Disclaimer of Warranties

THE SITE AND ITS CONTENT ARE PROVIDED "AS IS" WITHOUT WARRANTY OF ANY KIND. TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, REMODELFINDER DISCLAIMS ALL WARRANTIES, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT. REMODELFINDER DOES NOT WARRANT THAT COST ESTIMATES, ROI SCORES, PERMIT DATA, OR SEASONAL DEMAND DATA ARE ACCURATE, CURRENT, OR COMPLETE.

11. Limitation of Liability

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, REMODELFINDER SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES ARISING OUT OF OR RELATED TO YOUR USE OF THE SITE, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO DECISIONS MADE IN RELIANCE ON COST ESTIMATES, ROI SCORES, OR OTHER DATA PROVIDED BY THE SITE, EVEN IF WE HAVE BEEN ADVISED OF THE POSSIBILITY OF SUCH DAMAGES. OUR TOTAL LIABILITY FOR ANY CLAIM SHALL NOT EXCEED $100.

12. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless RemodelFinder and its officers, employees, and agents from any claims, damages, or expenses (including reasonable attorneys' fees) arising from your use of the Site or violation of these Terms.

13. Third-Party Links

The Site may link to third-party websites. We do not control those sites and are not responsible for their content, accuracy, or practices.

14. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Illinois, without regard to its conflict-of-law provisions. Any disputes shall be resolved in the courts located in Illinois.
